• Your SightMax 3.0 will run in the DEMO mode until you receive your SightMax 3.0 Registration Key.
   
• Once the install is complete, DO NOT copy the old AgentInterface files back into their original location! These files are incompatible. You can copy the IMAGES back, in place of the new SightMax 3.0 images.
   
• Updating the database from 2.x to 3.0 will take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes, at which time the server will not be operational until the update is complete. The event log shows if an update is taking place (See Step 7 for further information).

Upgrading from a working SightMax 1.x (9 Steps):

STEP 1.
Request a new SightMax Key (weve enhanced our licensing scheme to allow you to control your operators and sites). From within the SightMax Adminstrator, choose Request License Key File from the Registration Menu Dropdown. Simply enter your company name that you ordered SightMax under for the Order ID.

STEP 2.
Backup your SightMax AgentInterface Folder. By default the location is c:\inetpub\wwwroot\sightmax\agentinterface, if you installed into a different location, back it up.

STEP 3.
Backup your SQL Database. If you installed SightMax onto your own SQL server, backup the SightMaxDB database files. To backup the base install with MSDE, stop your SightMax Service, stop the MSSQL$SightMax Service, browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SIGHTMAX\Data and backup the files SightMaxDB.MDF and SightMaxDB_log.LDF.

STEP 4.
Restart the MSSQL$SightMax Service and the SightMax Service.

STEP 5.
Run the SightMax 3.0 installation program. Upon completion, your database and executables should be updated.

STEP 6.
Run the SightMax IIS Editor, this program will add the SightMax IIS mappings for you. You must choose the websites where you want to run SightMax (this will replace your old 1.0 mappings).

STEP 7.
Make sure the SightMax Service is restarted (and running).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Updating the database from 2.0 to 3.0 will take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes, at which time the server will not be operational until the update is complete. The event log shows if an update is taking place:

3000 - SightMax Windows Service started (will check to see if update needed)
3009 - Updating database (only logs if update needed)
3010 - Update completed (only logs if update needed)
3001 - Completed initialization

STEP 8.
Take the SightMaxOperator.exe file from the server desktop and make it available (via your own webserver, ftp, or however wish to make it available) to your operators (customer service reps, sales agents, etc).

STEP 9.
Install the SightMax Operator and login.

Remote Administration Information:
With SightMax 3.0, you can also run the SightMax Administrator remotely. The installation program is SightMaxAdministrator.exe and is located on your server desktop, you can install that on any computer where you wish to remotely administrator SightMax 3.0.
